Hey rev.b. I have a copy of this box. I'll try to rip and post sometime. It has a Lukas Foss piece which is otherwise n/a as far as I know. You may know that I've posted 3 American Composer Voxboxes? Probably my fave is the American Piano Music 1900-1945 which is really great but there is also 2 String Quartet boxes.
Haven't been here for a few years, and I noticed your posts only go back as far as 2007, except i think this was the first music blog I ever ran into, and I am absolutely sure it was closer to 2003 or 2004 when I first saw it. Could even have been earlier... Didn't use file hosters either, I seem to recall... I dont recall seeing more than a year's worth of posts, either. Is my memory faulty? At any rate.. Cheers for still going strong!
Hi, we're looking forward your new posts. We also would love to introduce you our association Studio d’en Haut. We’ve set up Bobbyland, an automata orchestra, a participative project combining music, DIY and digital arts. Using classical instruments (pianos, double bass, drums…) associated with various objects, motors and computers, the installation put the audience into surprising sounds. Electronic music for sure, but definitively acoustic, and that doesn’t negate the heritage of concrete music. Indeed, with those “musicians” robots, it’s a whole part of unknown contemporary music to which the audience is confronted, in this case minimal or dronic musique. It’s often a discovery that makes people react in various ways, due to incompréhension or wrong ideas. The Studio d’en Haut makes discover that other forms, other ways to think and to make music exist, contribuating to its richness.
