Released sometime during the mid 1970s on LP
Less than twenty years have elapsed since the advent of electronic music. The early novelty of the medium has now worn off, and an entire generation has grown up with the sound of amplified guitars, reverb, tape delay and electronic synthesizers in its ears. Today, the number of electronic studios in the United States alone has grown to nearly one hundred, and the number of electronic compositions made all over the world, both "live" and "taped," is in the thousands. With so many composers now at work in the new medium, the question of whether one likes electronic music is giving way to that of which composers one prefers.
In this album, three works by three talented composers are presented for the first time. Written in the 1960s, each work bears the mark of an original musical personality of the new "electronic" generation. (liner notes)

this is such a great record - thanks for posting it (and such a good-sounding rip, too)! the Maxfield piece in particular is an underappreciated gem.
ReplyDeleteLink is dead because the 10 dowloads limit is reached.
ReplyDeleteBut, thank you so much for other great sounds you share, there is so many things I still have to discover!
cheers from paris
maxfield is in another dimension of avant-garde with this contribution; night songs is an outstanding piece. someone needs to reissue this man

DeleteI have this record but my turntable bit the dust years ago. I found the Reich and Oliveros on the old Avant Garde Project site a long time ago but at a much lower bit-rate. It will be great to hear the complete recording again; it has always been one of my favorite recordings of early electronic music. Many thanks.
ReplyDeleteBy the way I found only the Megashares link still working, the others are dead.

Thank you Anonymous; I had given up on MirrorCreator altogether. Yes, and the AGP site is fantastic, and Grey has more more more. I love this stuff.
