Classical Japanese Koto Music

Izumi-Kai Original Instrumental Group - Classical Japanese Koto Music

Another LP of well performed koto music comprising the known repertoire.
The koto is accompanied by flute ("Rokudan" and "Chidori") and vocals (the last two tracks). No information about the group and individual performers is available. There is some information about the koto in a previous post. More information about the koto is in that post than there is in the liner notes to this LP. The liner notes gives an overview of the history of Japanese music (which is helpful for those new to Japanese music), but any information about the koto itself is absent. That is odd considering that this is supposed to be about the koto itself and the liner notes say that the koto is the most important instrument of Japanese art-music. It is a shame as the music is enticing enough to further interest listeners in wanting to learn more.
