New Electronic Works from the University of Illinois

various artists compilation - New Electronic Works from the University of Illinois

This is an LP of student works released in 1989 by the Experimental Music Studios at the Univerisity of Illinois. I couldn't find any additional information about this LP so I do not know much about its background other than what is in the liner notes.

*note: the photo is not the actual cover of the LP, it is a photo of one of the studios at the Experimental Music Studios. Sorry, I wasn't able to take a picture of the cover during the very short period of time that I borrowed the LP.

From the liner notes: The Composition-Theory Division of the University of Illinois School of Music is recognized internationally for its innovations, diversity, instruction, and performance resources in contemporary art music. As one of the largest composition departments, it offers unusual opportunities for purusing research and maintains high standards for the composition and performance of new music.
Founded in 1958, the University of Illinois Experimental Music Studios now consist of seven specially-designed facilities used for electronic sound generation, processing, and recording. Faculty and students have been responsible for many of the major developments in electro-acoustic music over the last thirty years, and today, the facility continues as an active, productive center for new music composition. The director of the Experimental Music Studios is Scott Wyatt. [He is still the director at the present.]
